Fundamental research in methacrylic chemistry by Dr. Otto Röhm in the 1920s
RohMax established in 1996 as 50-50 joint venture between Röhm and USA-based Rohm and Haas Company
Joint venture purchased by Röhm, a subsidiary of former Degussa-Hüls, in 1998
RohMax becomes part of the Specialty Acrylics business unit of Degussa GmbH (result of the merger between Degussa-Hüls & SKW Trostberg in 2000)
RohMax acquires Rhodia's Empicryl^® lubricant additives business in June 2001
RohMax today forms part of the Coatings & Additives business unit of Evonik Industries AG
Evonik closes Sulfolane plant end of 2008
Evonik acquires DOS oil additives business in Russia
