• Fundamental research in methacrylic chemistry by Dr. Otto Röhm in the 1920s
  

• RohMax established in 1996 as 50-50 joint venture between Röhm and USA-based Rohm and Haas Company
  

• Joint venture purchased by Röhm, a subsidiary of former Degussa-Hüls, in 1998
  

• RohMax now forms part of the Specialty Acrylics business unit of Degussa GmbH (result of the merger between Degussa-Hüls & SKW Trostberg in 2000)

• RohMax acqiured Rhodia's Empicryl^® lubricant additives business in June 2001
  

• Laporte's SULFOLANE business integrated into RohMax Oil Additives following Degussa's acquisition of Laporte plc in 2001

• RohMax today forms part of the Specialty Acrylics business unit of Evonik Industries AG (former Degussa GmbH)
